Working Group on Open Data in Science

Purpose

  1. Act as a central point of reference and support for people who think they are interested in open data in science.
  2. Identify practices of early adopters, collecting data and developing guides.
  3. Act as a hub for the development of low cost, community driven projects around open data in science.

Possible Projects

  • Open Data in Science prize
  • Data Unlocking Service

    • Unlocking/clarification service: a simple way for people to ask for data to be made open (or have its status clarified)
  • Brief summaries of benefits of openness in different domains
    • Prepare 1-page summaries of benefits of openness. Some of this can be standard but a good portion needs to be specific to the subject area.
