The Comprehensive Knowledge Archive Network is a registry of open knowledge packages and projects (and a few closed ones). CKAN is the place to search for open knowledge resources as well as register your own.

Those familiar with freshmeat, CPAN or PyPI can think of CKAN as providing an analogous service for open knowledge.

The Open Definition site maintains a set of definitions of 'openness' in relation to content, data and services.

The Open Knowledge Definition (OKD) sets out principles to define the 'open' in open knowledge. The term knowledge is used broadly and it includes all forms of data, content such as music, films or books as well any other types of information.
